Quote of the Moment

If one knew what we may obtain from God by the intercession of the Holy Souls, they would not be so much abandoned. Let us pray a great deal for them, they will pray for us.

The Holy Souls and Christmas

I've always found it amazing with the attention that All Souls Day receives each year. During this time, many Catholics take the time to remember their deceased family and friends. The All souls Day Mass is overflowing with people who come together to pray for the poor souls in Purgatory. Then, on the next day, its business as usual and the dead are forgotten for another year.

Unfortunately, their suffering in Purgatory remains as they are purged from the stains of sin on their souls. The holy souls need prayers and penance every day of the year, not just a single day. Sin causes stains which can take decades or centuries to remove, depending on the seriousness of the sin.

Private revelations have revealed that Christmas is the time when the largest number of people are free from Purgatory, but this should not stop us from praying daily for them.

The greatest gift you can give a soul in Purgatory is entry into Heaven. Pray daily for them and teach your children and others to do the same.
